The basis of our production

Made in Germany - the combination of technical progress and many years of experience is the basis of our production. Selection and processing of high-grade materials at our Löhne site in North Rhine-Westphalia determines our product quality. At our ultramodern manufacturing facility in 'the world’s kitchen centre’ our employees make our products to high environmental standards on a production area of more than 33,000 square metres. The themes underlying this environmentally friendly, sustainable production are the quality, diversity and durability of our fitted kitchens, down to the last detail.

Global logistics

Global logistics with on-time delivery and flawless service in numerous countries round the world. Our logistics experts deliver to the main markets of Central Europe using their own vehicle fleet with their own drivers, 30 tractor units and 85 trailers. In addition to that, haulage firms serve Northern, Southern and Eastern Europe, America, the Asian markets and the Arab Emirates.

History

The four Baumann brothers established the firm of 'Gebrüder Baumann' in 1929. In 1954 the firm of 'Wilhelm Baumann' was established, manufacturing kitchen buffets and also, from 1956, Swedish kitchens. Production of fitted kitchens using melamine-coated chipboard began in 1961. The product name selected was 'bau-for-mat Einbauküchen'. By 1970 the business had sales of €2 million and about 90 employees. In 1971 the 'Wilhelm Baumann' business was taken over by son Wilfried Baumann. By 1984 sales had reached €50 million and there were about 320 employees. In 1985 the corporate name was changed to 'bau-for-mat Küchen' Siegfried Westerholz was appointed as Manager. The firm of 'Burger Küchenmöbel' in Saxony-Anhalt was taken over in 1991. Delf Baumann was the third generation to join the family business, in 1996. The Haus Beck exhibition and training centre was opened in 2000, following extensive renovations. In 2009 the 'cube 130' product line was launched at the company exhibition

Löhne/Westphalia

The idea
What makes Löhne different from other towns? The question was raised by Kurt Quernheim at a meeting of the OWL-Marketing company in March and spontaneously answered on a sheet of paper: Löhne – the kitchen centre. The representatives of six Löhne kitchen manufacturing companies were delighted with the mayor's idea. But they felt it was not sufficiently comprehensive. And so the slogan now proudly claims "Löhne – the world's kitchen centre“.

Background
Indeed, nowhere else in the world will you find so many famous kitchen manufacturers gathered together in such a small area. They provide jobs for 2,000 people here, plus another 1,000 in the supplying industry in Löhne. One in four jobs in Löhne is directly related to kitchen production.
